Glenburn Rec kicks off first of four tournament weekends with 5/6 girls tourney

GLENBURN - Saturday morning the Glenburn Rec kicked off their annual tournaments with a 5th/6th grade girls tournament. The tournament consists of Pool Play on Saturday with each team playing two games, plus one additional Pool Play game on Sunday morning. The tournament concludes Sunday afternoon with two single elimination games followed by the Championship game.

Teams competing this opening weekend are Bangor, Presque Isle, Lincoln, host team Glenburn, Lawrence, Dexter, Foxcroft, and Old Town Y.

In the first four games of the day, Bangor defeated Lincoln 26-21, Lawrence rolled over Dexter 43-21, Presque Isle dominated Glenburn with a 33-7 win, and Old Town Y cruised to a 38-18 win over Foxcroft.

In the first game of the day, Bangor needed all four quarters to pull out a 26-21 win over Lincoln. The game was tied 17-17 after three quarters, but Bangor out scored Lincoln 9-4 in the final period for the win.

Avery Clark scored a game high 17 points to lead Bangor, and Gabby Roy had five points. Julianna Cloukey and Addison Cyr each scored eight points to top Lincoln in scoring.

After a 10-4 first quarter, Lawrence doubled up Dexter 12-6 in the second period to take a 22-10 lead into the half time break. The Bulldogs out scored Dexter 13-2 in the third quarter to put the game away with a 35-12 lead on their way to a 43-21 victory.

Ashley Shores scored a game high 17 points, Payton Cole added eight points, and Kayci Ross scored six to lead Lawrence in scoring. Kellie Stone scored eight points and Annabelle Peakes had six points to pace Dexter in scoring.

In a major size difference, Presque Isle dominated Glenburn after a 10-0 first quarter holding the Chargers to single digits over the final three quarters for a 33-7 win.

Rhianna Desjardins led all scorers with 10 points and Maddy Putnam added seven points to lead Presque Isle in scoring.

Eve Wiles, Grace LaBree, and Kaylee Folsom each scored two points and Mallory Lausier added one point to provide the scoring for Glenburn.

Old Town managed just a one point lead (6-5) after the first quarter, but out scored Foxcroft 11-5 in the second period for a 17-10 half time lead. Old Town out scored Foxcroft 21-8 over the second half to pull off the 20 point 38-18 win.

Old Town was led in scoring by Karly Buckwalter with 11 points, Konna Dumond with 10 points, and Taylor Loring with nine points.

Providing the scoring for Foxcroft was Addie Day with 11 points, Alli Cook with six points, and Alexis Burdin with one point.

All teams return on Sunday with games beginning at 9:00 a.m.

Windham overpowers Hermon to win 11/12 softball State Championship, Kimball hurls No-Hitter

GLENBURN - The Windham 11/12 softball All-Stars came to bat in the top half of the first inning and made a statement, sending 14 hitters to the plate and scoring nine runs in a 15-0 Mercy Rule victory to claim the 2019 State Championship at the Glenburn Little League softball field on Saturday afternoon. Windham hurler Kennedy Kimball kept the Hermon bats silent, as she pitched a no-hitter in the shortened Mercy Rule game.

Hermon comes from behind twice to squeeze out 11/12 State Tournament semifinal win

GLENBURN - /Saturday afternoon at the Glenburn Little League softball field, Hermon struggled over the first four innings without putting a run on the board but they would rally late and score five runs in the final two innings to overtake Kennebunk-Wells to pull out a 5-4 win in the 11/12 softball State Tournament semifinal game.

Windham slugs, pitches way to victory over Hermon in 11/12 softball State Tournament

GLENBURN - Thursday afternoon in Glenburn, the Windham (District 6) 11-12 softball team jumped out to a 5-0 first inning lead and that would be all they needed as they improved to 2-0 in the State Tournament with a 10-1 victory over District 3 Hermon as Kennedy Kimball scattered 4 hits and struck out 11 in the win.

Kimball hurls Perfect Game, Windham takes 11/12 softball State Tourney opener

GLENBURN - The 2019 softball State Tournament kicked off with a bang Sunday afternoon in Glenburn, as Windham (District 6) overpowered Medomak (District 2) 9-0 behind a Perfect Game pitching performance from Kennedy Kimball. Windham will play again Thursday at 3:30 p.m. against District 3 representative Hermon.

Hermon wins District 3 softball 11/12 Championship

GLENBURN - After falling to Lincoln the night before (9-6) for their first loss of the tournament, the Hermon Hawks were a different team on Tuesday night as they put together some base hits and used their speed and defense to come away with a 7-3 victory over the same Lincoln team to capture the 2019 District 3 softball 11/12 all-stars championship. This was the 14th District 3 championship for the Hermon softball program.

Lincoln stays alive with victory over Hermon in 11/12 softball District Championship

GLENBURN - The Lincoln 11/12 softball team broke open a tie game with five runs in the fourth inning and held on to pick up a 9-6 win over Hermon in the District softball championship game in Glenburn Monday night. The Lincoln (2-1) victory over Hermon (2-1) forces the If Necessary game to take place. Both teams will battle for the District Championship again at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday night in Glenburn.

Hermon wins two, headed to 11/12 softball District 3 Championship

GLENBURN - On Saturday at the Glenburn Little League softball field, the Hermon Hawks won two games in the round robin version of the District Three 11/12 softball tournament out scoring their opponents by a combined 28-14 score. Hermon defeated Lincoln 17-11 in game one, and knocked off host team Glenburn 11-3 in the second game.

Severance, Gilmore spark Glenburn to 8-9-10 softball Championship

BANGOR - Wednesday night in Bangor, the Glenburn 8-9-10 softball team had solid pitching, clutch hitting, and excellent defense. All three of those aspects of the game led "Team Brady" to a 5-2 championship game title in the District 3 All-Stars tournament over Hermon. The district championship was the first for a Glenburn softball team in 20 years.

Lane leads Hermon to win over Lincoln in 8-9-10 softball District tournament

BANGOR - On a cool and drizzly night at the Bangor West Little League softball field, the Hermon Hawks eliminated the team from Lincoln with a 10-3 win for their third consecutive victory out of the losers bracket in the 8-9-10 District 3 softball tournament.

Hawks roll to victory over Bronco in 8-9-10 softball All-Stars tournament

BANGOR - The Hermon Hawks used a combination of clutch hitting and solid pitching to roll over Bronco Little League 14-2 in a four inning Mercy Rule win on Monday night in an 8-9-10 softball District 3 tournament game at the Bangor West Little League complex.

Severance leads Glenburn to 8-9-10 softball district tourney opening game win

BANGOR - Friday afternoon at the Bangor Little League softball field, Jillian Severance led the Glenburn 8-9-10 All-Stars to a 15-0 Mercy Rule win over Bronco Little League in the District Three softball tournament opening game.

Trask hurls 3-hit shutout to help send Hermon to Class B North Championship

Wildman handcuffs Skowhegan bats in Broncos JV Mercy Rule win

Forrest Auto cruises to win in Winterport Baseball little league action

Hermon sweeps Mariners in baseball, softball

HERMON - Thursday afternoon at Hermon High School, the Lady Hawks pulled out a Heal Point worthy 5-3 win over the Oceanside Mariners while down at the baseball field the Hawks cruised to a 10-0 Mercy Rule win in five innings over the Mariners.

Neal powers Hampden Academy to come from behind victory over Lady Dragons

Murphy slam sparks Lady Broncos to opening day win over Edward Little

HAMPDEN - Thursday afternoon at Hampden Academy, the Lady Broncos scored six runs in the second inning highlighted by a 210 foot grand slam home run to straight away centerfield from Eliza Murphy and a 2-run double by Sydney Jordan for a 7-2 season opening victory over the Red Eddies of Edward Little High School from Auburn.

Ellsworth cruises to Glenburn Rec 3rd-4th grade boys tournament championship

GLENBURN - Sunday afternoon in Glenburn, a well rested Ellsworth team faced a very tired Gardiner 3/4 boys team and cruised to a 69-25 victory in the championship game as all eight members of the Eagles scored in the contest at the Glenburn School.

Glenburn Rec 3rd/4th grade boys tournament opening day

GLENBURN - Saturday at the Glenburn School, the Glenburn Rec opened their final tournament of the season with the 3rd/4th grade boys 6-team double elimination tourney. Tournament teams consisted of Hermon, Ellsworth, Calais, Gardiner, Brewer and the host team Glenburn.
