The Camden Hills Windjammers girls' soccer team worked hard to overcome Brunswick in a 2-1 win at Fuller Field in Augusta on Saturday afternoon.
Here is a link to a photo gallery from this game.After a scoreless first half, the Dragons put up the first score on a corner kick from Hazel Bachman to give the Dragons a short-time lead. Camden Hills Lea Zwecker took a beautiful pass into the box from Britta Denny and nailed a sweet shot at 35:25 to tie the game up and give Camden some momentum.
Almost 20 minutes later Denny again found a wide-open Leah Snyder cutting through the box hitting her with a perfect pass that Snyder could put in the opposite corner of the goal at 15:46 to give the Windjammers the lead they would not give up.
Both of these teams fought right to the end, a well played match that saw the athletes leave it all on the pitch.
This was a big win for Camden Hills who lost last year in the semifinal 1-0 to Brunswick.
NO. 2 Camden Hills will now face NO. 1 Bangor on Tuesday, Nov. 8, at 4 p.m. at Lewiston High School for the Northern Class A Championship.
