Orono boys get by Hermon to reach regional final


BANGOR- The Orono Red Riots boys basketball team are playing their best at the perfect time. The Red Riots went on an 11-0 run and earned a 52-41 win over Hermon in a Maine Principals’ Association class B semifinal game on Wednesday afternoon at the Cross Insurance Center.

Hawks big third quarter leads to win over MA

The Hermon Hawks broke open a 4-point half time lead with a 17-4 third quarter, which included a 13-0 run, to lead Hermon to a 59-48 win over Mattanawcook Academy at Hermon High School on Saturday night.

Michaud, Bergeron spark Hermon JV boys to victory

Saturday night at Hermon High School, Wyatt Michaud and Joel Bergeron scored in double digits to help guide the Hawks JV boys to a 53-43 victory over the Mattanawcook Academy Lynx of Lincoln.

Hermon girls step up: Hawks knock off undefeated John Bapst

In the final of four games Friday at the Cross Insurance Center in Bangor, it was the previously undefeated 6-0 Crusaders of John Bapst hosting the 5-1 Hermon Hawks in what turned out to be just what most fans thought it would be, a great game.

Varney leads Hermon past John Bapst in year end matchup

In the varsity boys game, freshman Isaac Varney, last week's Big East Conference Player of the Week, led Hermon to a convincing 57-48 win over host John Bapst in the third game of the day between the two schools at the Cross Insurance Center in Bangor.

Hermon JV boys pick up win over Crusaders

Excitement is always in the air when you pit two local teams against each other and Friday at the Cross Insurance Center in Bangor, the Hawks of Hermon invaded the home court of the Crusaders of John Bapst for a four-game event.

Saturday, Dec. 17 postponements

We have received the first list of cancellations and postponements and will add any others as we receive them.

Bangor Area:
FROM CENTRAL:
The boys and girls games at Houlton Saturday have been postponed to Jan. 16.

FROM  HERMON:
The MDI Boy’s at Hermon on Saturday, Dec. 17,  has been postponed because of the forecast of inclement weather.

The game will now be played on Monday, Dec. 19 with the JV game scheduled for 5:30 p.m. and the varsity game at 7 p.m.

FROM NOKOMIS:
Boys and girls Basketball postponed (Makeup Date TBD)

FROM BANGOR HIGH:
Boys and Girls basketball with Cheverus postponed (Makeup Date TBD)

FROM ORONO:
The John Bapst at Orono girls game has been postponed.  (Makeup TBD)

FROM BREWER:
Boys and girls postponed to Jan. 2, 2017, Boys at 2 p.m. Girls at 1:30 p.m.

Rockland Area:
FROM OCEANSIDE:
Oceanside at Medomak Valley Varsity Doubleheader postponed until Monday, Dec. 19 Boys at 5 p.m., Girls 6:30 p.m., Pre-Game at 4:45 PM on FRANK 105.5

FROM CAMDEN HILLS:
Due to the impending poor weather all CHRHS Athletic events are canceled for Saturday 12/17 to include training. Makeup dates and times are still TBD

Hermon dominates Red Riots in girls home opener

In a total team effort, the Lady Hawks had 11 of 12 players score on Tuesday night as they dominated the Orono Red Riots for a 61-26 victory in the home opener at Hermon High School.
