Winslow ends Hermon softball season in North Class B Regional Final

Hermon softball knocks off Ellsworth advances to the regional finals

 ELLSWORTH – The #6 Hermon Hawks softball team being on a roll is putting it mildly. On Friday, they eliminated #3 MDI in extra innings, and turned around Saturday and knocked off #2 Ellsworth 4-3.

No. 6 Hermon softball eliminates #11 Oceanside in Round of 16

Hermon –The Hermon girls relied on their pitching and solid defense to take a lead and hold it, giving up just one run in the top of the seventh as the Hawks take a 4-1 win over the Mariners of Rockland.

Delahanty leads Broncos to 9-3 win over visiting Hermon

HAMPDEN – The Hampden softball team hosted Hermon in a cross-class game Friday afternoon with the Class A Broncos taking a 9-3 win over Class B Hawks.

John Bapst slips past Hermon 9-8 in softball action Wednesday

BANGOR – The Crusaders picked up a Heal Point worthy win over Hermon, 9-8, Wednesday at the Union St Soccer and Softball complex.

Masterson dominates in the circle, Broncos pound out 12 hits to overtake Hermon 5-1

Hermon advances to PVC/Big East JV Girls championship

HERMON – The Hermon Hawks JV girls team  hosted Old Town in a semifinal PVC game and earned themselves a trip to the Championship Thursday, Feb. 16 with a solid 50-29 win.

Both teams started slow and stayed with each other the first half, then Hermon turned up the heat and put the game away.

The Hawks led after each quarter, 11-9, 24-20 at the half, but outscored Old Town 12-4 in the third quarter to take a 12 point lead into the final stanza where they again outscored Old Town 14-5 for the win.

Scoring for Hermon were, Bella Bowden with a game high 14 points; Veronica Chichetto 12; Izzy Byram 10; Brooke Gallop nine; and Norra Idano five. 

The Hawks were 2-of-5 (40 percent) from the charity stripe. 

For Old Town, Alexis Degrasse had 10 points; Haley Madden six; Elizabeth Magoon four; Lily Mickel  and Isabelle Francis three each; Isabella Danboise two; and Ava Brasslett one.

The Coyotes were 5-of-8 (63 Percent) from the foul line and they had two 3-pointers, one each from Mickel and Degrasse.

Brewer eliminates Hermon in JV PVC/Big East Hoops Tourney

BREWER – The #4 Brewer JV boys defeated visiting #5 Hermon in a a game that was part of the PVC/Big East JV Boys Championship Tournament with a 44-20 score.

Brewer opened the game with an 8-0 run and went on to a 10-4 first quarter lead. The second quarter was a little closer with brewer outscoring the Hawks 8-6 to take an 18-10 lead into the halftime. 

The third quarter was all Brewer as they blew the game open outscoring Hermon 12-5 to build a 15 point lead 30-15 heading into the final quarter. The fourth was another Brewer quarter finishing up with 14-5 quarter to seal the game and move on as they try to advance to the championship game.

Scoring for Brewer were, Braden Carr with a game high 12 points; Cayen Philbrick 10; Steven Young eight; Charlie Brydges seven; Kyle Horr three; and Jake Perry and Aiden Davis two each.

The Witches were 8-of-13 (62 percent) from the foul line, and they knocked down four 3-pointers, two from Carr, and one each from, Horr, and Brydges.

For Hermon,  (First names were not provided), N. Dupuy and Z. Allen had six points each; G. Scripture M. Henderson,  D. Fowler, and C. Brocates added two each.

Hermon was 1-of-2  (50 percent) from the foul line and they had three long distance baskets, two from Depuy and one from Allen.

Old Town girls use foul line to get past Hermon in Middle School action

HERMON - At the Hermon Middle School on Friday night, the girls from J. A. Leonard shot 76 percent from the free throw line to help knock off the Hermon Hawks 47-39 in girls middle school action.

Coyotes topple Hermon in middle school boys action

 HERMON - Friday afternoon at Hermon Middle School, the boys from J. A. Leonard Middle School in Old Town easily handled the boys from Hermon Middle School coming away with a 72-51 victory.

Old Town won the first three quarters 16-9, 23-11, and 19-13. Hermon took the final period 18-14, but the deficit was to high for the Hawks to over come.

Leading the way for the Coyotes in scoring was Vose (no first names in scorebook for Old Town) with  a game high 24 points. Also scoring in double digits for Old Town was Sockabason with 14 points and Hancode with 10 points. Mahaney and Priest each added six points, and DeGrasse scored four points. Louis, Duty, Spencer, and Powers each chipped in with two points.

Old Town had two 3-point baskets, one each from DeGrasse and Mahaney, and they shot 12-of-26 (46 percent) from the free throw line.

Mason Kinney and James Brocato each scored a team high 14 points to pace Hermon in scoring. Kobe Hills scored seven points, while Camden Morrison and Dylan Yeo each had four points. Ethan Pyle, Dylan Phair, Max Brown, and Eli Cormier all chipped in with two points each. 

The Hawks had four long range baskets, two from Brocato and one each by Kinney and Hills, and they went 5-for-14 (36 percent) from the charity stripe.

Hermon JV boys upend John Bapst

 HERMON – The Hermon junior varsity boys basketball team hosted John Bapst Monday evening and after a close first half, the Hawks took care on defense and outscored the Crusaders in the second half to take a 41-32 win.

Hermon led after each quarter, 13-10, 24-21 at the half, 30-24 after three quarters and outscored John Bapst in the final stanza 11-8 for the win.

Scoring for Hermon was, Zac Allen with 14 points; Carter Brocato 10; Bryan White seven; Noah Depuy and Gavin Scripture four each; and Danny Fowler two. 

Hermon struggled at the foul line shooting just 11-of-33 (33 percent) while knocking down two 3-pointers, one each from, Allen and DePuy.

For John Bapst, Oscar Martinez, Tristan Martin, and Bryce Stenzel had six points each; Nathan Butler and Jack Derosier five each; and Nigel Tall four. 

The Crusaders were 5-of-9 (56 percent) from behind the foul line and they got one 3-pointer from, Butler.

Hermon girls dominate in 60-33 win over Presque Isle

 HERMON – The Hermon girls made up their game with Presque Isle today and after starting out a little cold in the first half went on to completely dominate the Wildcats in the second half to take the 60-33 win.

Witches no match for Hermon JV girls

Thursday night at Brewer High School, the Hermon JV girls out scored the Witches 32-11 in the first and fourth quarters to take a 41-29 victory back home as Rachel Wickett led the way for the Hawks with a game high 13 points.

Brewer boys JV breezes past Hawks for win

BREWER - The Brewer JV boys took a 18-8 half time lead into the third quarter and turned up the heat with a 27-0 period to put the game away over the Hermon Hawks 52-19 at Brewer High School Thursday night. The Witches knocked down five 3-point baskets in the third period.

Littlefield, Wilkerson lead Brewer Frosh boys to win over Hermon

Three Hawks in double figures lead Hermon past MDI

HERMON – The Hermon Hawks basketball team hosted Mount Desert Island of Bar Harbor in a holiday matchup played Thursday afternoon. The Hawks had three players in double figures to led them past MDI 43-26.

Wickett, Bowden spark Lady Hawks to JV win over MDI

HERMON – Thursday afternoon at the Hawks Nest, the JV girls got the program off to a good start on the day as they defeated the Trojans of MDI 42-35 with a strong second half effort.

Lebel leads Hermon "A" girls over Brewer Community School

 HERMON – The Hermon "A" team got a big game from Kass Lebel who dominated the boards and took her shooting outside for a game high 16 points en route to a 44-32 win for the Hawks.
