Bangor JV girls sprint past Nokomis

BANGOR – The junior varsity girls opened up the night with the Bangor Rams and Nokomis JV girls game won by the Rams.

Bangor took off at the jump and never slowed down outscoring Nokomis 12-2 in the first quarter. By the half with the game clearly in the hands of Bangor, the Rams were up 24-4. Nothing changed in the third quarter as Bangor continued their steady pace again outscoring the Warriors 12-2 to take a 36-8 lead into the final stanza. In the fourth the two teams each added eight points giving Bangor the lopsided 44-16 win.

Nokomis struggled to get points on the board. It was not until about the seven minute mark before they were able to put double digits on the board. Meanwhile Bangor had nine players scoring in the game.

Scoring for Bangor was, Emily Caulkins with a game high 10 points; Ava Syphers added eight; Avery Fullerwood six; Savannah Tarr, Carly Andrews, Lucy O'Connell, and Annabelle Pierce all had four each; and Gabby Spreng and Kya Smith had two points each. Bangor was 0-of-5 from the charity stripe. 

For Nokomis, Alexa Brann had six points; Gaby Wilson added four; and Anna Nyce, Elizabeth Parker, and Nadilie Nickerson all had two points each. The Warriors were 2-of-6 (33 percent) from the foul line.

Hermon advances to PVC/Big East JV Girls championship

HERMON – The Hermon Hawks JV girls team  hosted Old Town in a semifinal PVC game and earned themselves a trip to the Championship Thursday, Feb. 16 with a solid 50-29 win.

Both teams started slow and stayed with each other the first half, then Hermon turned up the heat and put the game away.

The Hawks led after each quarter, 11-9, 24-20 at the half, but outscored Old Town 12-4 in the third quarter to take a 12 point lead into the final stanza where they again outscored Old Town 14-5 for the win.

Scoring for Hermon were, Bella Bowden with a game high 14 points; Veronica Chichetto 12; Izzy Byram 10; Brooke Gallop nine; and Norra Idano five. 

The Hawks were 2-of-5 (40 percent) from the charity stripe. 

For Old Town, Alexis Degrasse had 10 points; Haley Madden six; Elizabeth Magoon four; Lily Mickel  and Isabelle Francis three each; Isabella Danboise two; and Ava Brasslett one.

The Coyotes were 5-of-8 (63 Percent) from the foul line and they had two 3-pointers, one each from Mickel and Degrasse.

Johnson, Leavitt lead Camden Hills JV Girls over Brewer

 BREWER – The Brewer JV girls hosted the opener against visiting Camden Hills of Rockport and were handed a 43-33 loss by the visitors.

Nokomis JV girls slip past Brewer with a 46-42 win

 BREWER –  The junior varsity girls opened the night with an exciting game that Nokomis took control of in the second half for the 46-42 win over the host Witches.

Witches no match for Hermon JV girls

Thursday night at Brewer High School, the Hermon JV girls out scored the Witches 32-11 in the first and fourth quarters to take a 41-29 victory back home as Rachel Wickett led the way for the Hawks with a game high 13 points.
