Holbrook 5-6 grade girls hold off a visiting Hampden team

The Holbrook 5-6 grade girls' travel team hosted the Hampden equivalent Sunday at Holbrook Elementary and held off the fighting Broncos 28-23 for the win.

Holbrook took a 9-3 lead in the first quarter and extended it to a 12-5 lead at the half. Hampden outscored Holbrook 10-8 in the third quarter, however, they could only match Holbrook's score in the final stanza.

Scoring for Holbrook was, Abby Bell who led all scorers with 12 points, Mallone Haulk added 10, Maddie Miller five, and Sophie Tardiff one. Holbrook was 2-of-8 from the foul line. 

For Hampden, (no first names provided) C.J. Bacon led the team with seven points, S. Palmer had six, C. Kenney four, B. Tardiff three, X. Elliot two, and E. O'Connor one. Hampden went 3-of-11 from the charity stripe.

Biddeford Tigers crowned Glenburn Rec 5/6 girls tournament champion

GLENBURN - Sunday morning at the Glenburn School, the Single Elimination Round of games got underway with two teams being eliminated and the Biddeford Tigers eventually being crowned the 2022 Glenburn Rec 5/6 girls tournament champion.

Glenburn Rec kicks off annual tournaments with 5th/6th grade girls

GLENBURN - Saturday morning the Glenburn Rec kicked off their annual basketball tournaments with the 5/6 girls getting things going at the Glenburn Community School. This weekend, February 19-20, consisted of six teams split into two pools. The teams in Pool A are Hampden, Biddeford, and Katahdin. Pool B teams are MDI, Houlton, and Gardiner.

Brewer 5/6B girls cruise past Bucksport for EMBL Championship

BREWER - The Brewer and Bucksport 5-6B girls opened Championship Sunday at Brewer High School Sunday morning, and it was the Witches who cruised to a 39-17 victory to claim the 2021-22 Eastern Maine Basketball League girls 5-6B Division Championship.

Brewer 5/6B girls cruise past Holbrook in EMBBL action

BREWER - Sunday morning at Brewer High School, the Brewer 5/6B girls showed their dominance over the Holbrook Red Devils as they cruised to a 57-15 win in an Eastern Maine Basketball League travel game.

Brewer slips past Hermon in 7/8 grade girls court battle

 HERMON – The Hermon travel team of 7/8 grade girls hosted Brewer in a travel contest Sunday at Hermon Middle School.

Bangor 5/6A girls knock off Hawks in EMBLL action

HERMON - Saturday morning at the Hermon Middle School, the host team Hermon Hawks fell behind quickly and struggled through the first half and wound up on the losing end of a 26-19 victory by the visiting Bangor Rams in a 5th/6th grade A division Eastern Maine Basketball League travel game.

Brewer 5-6 girls open season with solid win over Old Town

 BREWER – The Brewer Travel Basketball Club got its season in the 2021-22 Eastern Maine Basketball League Sunday at Brewer High School with a rock solid 39-6 win over visiting Old Town 5-6.

Lawrence 5/6 girls squeeze out Glenburn Rec tournament Championship

GLENBURN - Sunday afternoon at the Glenburn School, the Lawrence Bulldogs 5/6 girls nearly gave the game away during the fourth quarter, but they managed to hold on long enough to pull out a 38-32 win over Old Town Y to claim the Glenburn Rec 5th/6th grade girls tournament championship.

Old Town Y, Lawrence win Glenburn Rec 5/6 girls tourney semifinals

Sunday afternoon at the Glenburn School, the Old Town Y girls defeated Presque Isle 23-20 and Lawrence needed overtime to come away with a 35-31 victory over Bangor in the Glenburn Rec's 5th/6th grade basketball tournament semifinal games.

Glenburn 5th-6th grade girls eliminate Brewer in EMBL play

BREWER – After a long travel ball season, the playoffs are underway for the Eastern Maine Basketball League and Sunday the Glenburn girls 5-6th grade B team slipped past the Brewer girls late in the game for the 41-35 win.
