Hermon wins two, headed to 11/12 softball District 3 Championship

GLENBURN - On Saturday at the Glenburn Little League softball field, the Hermon Hawks won two games in the round robin version of the District Three 11/12 softball tournament out scoring their opponents by a combined 28-14 score. Hermon defeated Lincoln 17-11 in game one, and knocked off host team Glenburn 11-3 in the second game.

In game 1, Hermon scored in all six innings and looked to be on their way to cruising to a win with a 13-4 lead heading into the bottom of the fifth inning. Lincoln made a game of it in the bottom of the fifth, scoring seven runs to cut the Hermon lead to 13-11. Lauren House provided the big highlight in the inning with a 3-run double. The Hawks put the game away in the top of the sixth adding for more runs for the final score of 17-11.

Hermon plated six runs in the first inning to help lead them to an 11-3 victory over Glenburn in game two of the tournament. Hermon once again scored in every inning, but this time their pitching was able to hold the Glenburn bats to just three runs.

The Hawks will play in the District Championship against Lincoln at 11:00 a.m. Sunday, June 30. Lincoln defeated Glenburn in the third and final game on Saturday, and must defeat Hermon twice to capture the championship title.
