Wiles last second basket gives 3/4 Lady Chargers a win

GLENBURN - Saturday afternoon at the Glenburn School, Eve Wiles scored in the closing seconds of the game to give the Glenburn Chargers a 23-22 win over Hampden in an Eastern Maine Travel Basketball league 3rd/4th grade girls game.

Lausier sparks Hampden to win over Brewer

HAMPDEN - Bryce Lausier, joined by Kory Winch and Ross Webb, scored in double digits and led the Broncos to a 71-39 win over the Brewer Witches at The Stable inside Hampden Academy on Friday night. The Hampden win, their fifth of the season, was also the 250th win for Head Coach Russ Bartlett in his career.

Donovan, Brillant lead Lady Broncos to victory over Brewer

HAMPDEN - Friday night at The Stable inside Hampden Academy, Bailey Donovan and Alydia Brillant combined to score 36 points as the Lady Broncos defeated the Brewer Witches 50-26 in a Class A North match up.

Lady Red Riots pick up come from behind victory over John Bapst

ORONO - Wednesday night at Orono High School, the Lady Red Riots overcame a nine point deficit to start the fourth quarter and went on to pull out a 48-42 victory over the John Bapst Crusaders in a Class B north girls game.

Donovan leads Lady Broncos to season opener victory

HAMPDEN - Hampden Academy's Bailey Donovan scored in double digits for the game, and led the Lady Broncos to a 50-37 victory over the Messalonskee Eagles in a girls basketball mutual season opener at The Stable on Saturday afternoon.

The Broncos allowed Messalonskee to stay in the game through the entire first three quarters. They led 15-14 at the end of the first period, and 25-23 at half time. Hampden out scored the Eagles 13-10 in the third period to take a 38-33 lead into the final eight minutes.

Hampden began pulling away from Messalonskee in the final period with an early 4-0 run to lead 42-33 with 6:10 left in the game. The Broncos extended their score by improving to an 8-0 run for a 46-33 lead with 3:20 to play. They would close out the period with a 12-4 score for the 13 point victory. Donovan scored six points in the final quarter, and the team went a perfect 6-for-6 from the foul line.

Donovan scored a game high 18 points to lead the Lady Broncos in scoring, and Brillant added nine points. Sidney Hodgdon and Megan Deans each scored seven points, Camryn Bouchard had five points, and Amelia McLaughlin scored four.

Hampden had three 3-point baskets, one each from Brillant, Hodgdon, and Bouchard, and they went  13-for-18 from the charity stripe.

Messalonskee was led in scoring by Emily Parent with 14 points and Gabrielle Werner with nine points. Bri Benecke added five points, Sarah Lowell scored four points, Grace Werner had three points, and Alyssa Genness chipped in with two points.

The Lady Eagles had five 3-point baskets, four by Parent and one by Ga. Werner, and they went 12-for-17 from the free throw line.

Small sparks Milford strong fourth quarter in win over Lady Chargers

GLENBURN - Olivia Small scored nine of her game high 15 points in the fourth quarter as the Milford Wildcats out scored the Glenburn Chargers 14-7 in the period to pull out a 47-40 win in a middle school girls basketball game at Glenburn on Thursday night.

Wildcats strong third quarter leads to victory over Glenburn boys

GLENBURN - The Wildcats of Lewis Libby Middle School in Milford got a combined 17 points from Braydon Brown (9) and Carson Ellis (8) in a 20-3 third quarter that led to a 48-45 victory over the Glenburn Chargers in a boys middle school basketball game on Thursday afternoon.

Chargers first half leads to victory over DEFY in 5/6B boys travel

GLENBURN - Sunday afternoon at the Glenburn School, the host team Chargers built up an 11 point first half lead and hung on to defeat the DEFY (Ellsworth) 5/6B boys 37-28 in an Eastern Maine Basketball League travel game.
