This game started very slow with the first quarter score of 7-4, Hermon, and a Hermon halftime lead of 20-12 and a 28-21 third quarter lead. The final quarter was all Hermon as they outscored MDI 15-5 to capture the win.
One constant in this game was the foul shooting of both teams who went a combined 24-of-30 on the day. The other was once Meg Tracy came in the game, you could expect to see her fighting for rebounds, crashing the boards, and giving her team a lift by example. A fearless player who leaves it all on the floor.
Leading the way for Hermon were, Maddie Lebel with a game high 15 points; Elizabeth Wyman had 12; and Allie Cameron 10. Tracy added six points.
Hermon was 15-of-18 (83 percent) from the foul line and they had two 3-point baskets, one each from Lebel and Cameron.
For MDI, Elizabeth James had nine points; Olivia Gray eight; Elena Alderman five; and Lexi Tozier and Mollie Gray two each.
The Trojans were 9-of-12 (75 percent) from the charity stripe and they had one 3-point basket from O. Gray. Hermon as 11-of-12 from the line in the fourth quarter.
Combined in this game the two teams shot an impressive 80 percent from the foul line. One does not see that often in high school basketball.
Hermon moves to 5-1 in Class B North and sits in second place. They will travel to Bucksport on Jan. 3, 2022 for their next contest.
MDI falls to 4-2 on the season and will host Old Town on Jan. 5, 2022 for their next game.
