Reeds Brook runs past BCS in A and B games on opening night

 BREWER – The Eastern Maine Middle School League kicked off another season Monday, with a couple of match ups of Reeds Brook of Hampden and Brewer Community School "A" and "B" teams.

BOYS "B" GAME
Reeds Brook went home with two lopsided wins with the Boys "B" team taking a 57-18 win and the Boys "A" team taking a 69-19 win. 

In the B game to start things off, Reeds Brook and Brewer played to a 3-3 tie in the first quarter before Reeds Brook opened the flood gates and poured in 15 points while holding Brewer to five to take an18-8 lead into the half time. 

The Rebels came out in the second half and dominated the Witches out scoring them 16-4 in the third quarter and 23-6 leading to the final in the fourth stanza.

Scoring for the Reed Brook Rebels were, Ashton O'Roak with a game high 17 points; Lucas Fachiol nine; Grady O'Roak seven; Landon Fish four; Alex Adams and Chase Coffey three each; and Carter Kenney, Ben Oliver, Ben Johnston, Asher Valentine, Terry Collier, Henry Scott, and Gabe Thornwall two each.

Reeds Brook was 6-for-10 (60 percent) from the foul line and they had three 3-point baskets, one each from G. O'Roak, Fachiol, and A. O'Roak.

For Brewer, Brandon Rivera had five points; Jordon Tolman and Bryan Sinclair four each; Liam Greenlaw three; and Caleb Smith with two.

The Witches were 4-for-15 (27 percent) from behind the charity stripe. 

Reeds Brook goes to 1-0 on the season while Brewer falls to 0-1. Next up for Brewer is Cohen School with the boys on the road and the girls home.

BOYS "A" GAME
In the second game nothing changed as the Rebels defeated Brewer 69-19 in a run-a-way win.

Reeds Brook came out very strong and never looked back as they dominated play from start to finish.  The Rebels went up 18-4 in the first quarter and took a 34-11 lead into the halftime break. 

Nothing changed in the second half with Reeds Brook outscoring Brewer 22-4 in the third quarter and 13-4 in the final stanza to take the 69-19 win.

Scoring for Reeds Brook were, Miles Shaine with a game high 20 points; Ryan Mcalpine 13; Owen Busik nine; Jacob Kelley and Gavin Monyok eight each; Mason Studley seven; and Liam Heneghen with four.

The Rebels were 3-of-5 (60 percent) from the foul line. They nailed two 3-pointers, one each from Mcalpine and Busik.

For Brewer, Cayden Godfrey led the team with eight points; Eli Ouellette four; Cooper Charette three; and Tunde Odeleye and Brady Muncey two each. 

Brewer was 7-of-12 (58 percent) from the foul line.

The Rebels go to 1-0 on the season while Brewer falls to 0-1.

Next up for Brewer is Cohen School with the boys on the road and the girls home.
