Coyotes topple Hermon in middle school boys action

 HERMON - Friday afternoon at Hermon Middle School, the boys from J. A. Leonard Middle School in Old Town easily handled the boys from Hermon Middle School coming away with a 72-51 victory.

Old Town won the first three quarters 16-9, 23-11, and 19-13. Hermon took the final period 18-14, but the deficit was to high for the Hawks to over come.

Leading the way for the Coyotes in scoring was Vose (no first names in scorebook for Old Town) with  a game high 24 points. Also scoring in double digits for Old Town was Sockabason with 14 points and Hancode with 10 points. Mahaney and Priest each added six points, and DeGrasse scored four points. Louis, Duty, Spencer, and Powers each chipped in with two points.

Old Town had two 3-point baskets, one each from DeGrasse and Mahaney, and they shot 12-of-26 (46 percent) from the free throw line.

Mason Kinney and James Brocato each scored a team high 14 points to pace Hermon in scoring. Kobe Hills scored seven points, while Camden Morrison and Dylan Yeo each had four points. Ethan Pyle, Dylan Phair, Max Brown, and Eli Cormier all chipped in with two points each. 

The Hawks had four long range baskets, two from Brocato and one each by Kinney and Hills, and they went 5-for-14 (36 percent) from the charity stripe.
