HERMON – The Hermon girls made up their game with Presque Isle today and after starting out a little cold in the first half went on to completely dominate the Wildcats in the second half to take the 60-33 win.

Presque Isle led very early in the first but Hermon made a nice run at the end to take a 13-8 lead into the second quarter. Someone covered the baskets in the second quarter because neither team could find the whole at the top. Presque Isle outscored Hermon 7-4 to give Hermon the 17-15 lead at the halftime break.
The third quarter was all Hermon outscoring the Wildcats 25-9 to take a 42-24 lead into the final stanza where they again outscored Presque Isle 18-9 for the lopsided win.
Scoring for Hermon were, Faith Coombs with a game high 17 points; Maddie Lebel and Elizabeth Wyman had 12 each; and Meg Tracy had 10 to round out the double digit scorers. Other scorers for the Hawks were, Syd Gallop with four; Char Caron three; and Brooke Gallop with two.
The Hawks were 15-of-28 (54 percent) from the foul line and the knocked down five 3-pointers, four from Coombs who was on fire and one from Lebel.
For Presque Isle, Anna Jandreau had 14 points; Faith Sjoberg 12; Sadie Lapointe, Grace O'Connell, and Lexi Morningstar had two each; and Mia Casavant one.
The Wildcats were 7-of-10 (70 percent) from the charity stripe and the had four 3-pointers, two each from, Sjoberg, and Jandreau.
Hermon goes to 10-1 with the win and the will travel to Bar Harbor to take on Mount Desert Island Tuesday, Jan. 25.
Presque Isle drops to 9-4 and next up for them is Ellsworth, who they will travel to play Friday, Jan. 28.
Hermon sits at number two in the Maine State Principals Association Heal Point Standings. Presque Isle is number six.
