Lebel leads Hermon "A" girls over Brewer Community School

HERMON – The Hermon "A" team got a big game from Kass Lebel who dominated the boards and took her shooting outside for a game high 16 points en route to a 44-32 win for the Hawks.

Hermon's Kass Lebel (11) and Brewer's Gabby Chase (13) battled each other all night despite obviously being friends off the court. These two are pretty evenly matched. Hermon won the game 44-32. (Photo by Ron Hawkes/MSR)

Hermon led after each quarter, 10-3, 26-13 at the half and 36-19 at the end of three quarters of play. Brewer outscored the Hawks in the final quarter 13-8, but it was too little too late for the Witches.

Lebel led all scorers with her game high 16 points; Lila Ryan 11; Natalie Tardie eight; Rebecca Balmas five; and Erin Selleck and Madison Stewart two each.

The Hawks were just 1-of-10 (10 percent) from the foul line and they knocked down two 3-pointers, one each from Lebel and Balmas.

For Brewer Olivia Gilmore had a team high 12 points, Reece McKenney 10; Gabby Chase seven; Abby Flagg four; and Maddie Shaw one.

The Witches shot just 9-of-28 (32 percent) from the charity stripe. They had one 3-pointer from Chase.

Both teams played good defense in this game, offensively Lebel, Ryan, Gilmore and McKenney were on their games. Both teams need to spend time improving their foul shooting.
