(Photo by Ron Hawkes) The Holbrook 5-6 grade girls' travel team hosted the Hampden equivalent Sunday at Holbrook Elementary and held off the fighting Broncos 28-23 for the win. Holbrook took a 9-3 lead in the first quarter and extended it to a 12-5 lead at the half. Hampden outscored Holbrook 10-8 in the third quarter, however, they could only match Holbrook's score in the final stanza. Scoring for Holbrook was, Abby Bell who led all scorers with 12 points, Mallone Haulk added 10, Maddie Miller five, and Sophie Tardiff one. Holbrook was 2-of-8 from the foul line. For Hampden, (no first names provided) C.J. Bacon led the team with seven points, S. Palmer had six, C. Kenney four, B. Tardiff three, X. Elliot two, and E. O'Connor one. Hampden went 3-of-11 from the charity stripe. |
