Brewer 5/6B girls cruise past Bucksport for EMBL Championship

BREWER - The Brewer and Bucksport 5-6B girls opened Championship Sunday at Brewer High School Sunday morning, and it was the Witches who cruised to a 39-17 victory to claim the 2021-22 Eastern Maine Basketball League girls 5-6B Division Championship.

Six players contributed to Brewer jumping out to a 21-8 lead over Bucksport in the first half to put the game away. The Witches doubled up the Bucks 18-9 over the second half to come away with the 22 point margin of victory.

Rylee Bailey topped Brewer with 10 points in the game. Marlaina Roberts, Alexis Poland, and Maddie O'Donnell each added six points to the victory total. Lilly Clarke had five points, Harper Muncey scored four points, and Lila Blaine chipped in with two points.

The Witches went 5-for-12 (42 percent) from the charity stripe.

Providing the scoring for Bucksport was Caelan Gray with 10 points, Ella Simpson had four points, Lacey Orcutt added two points, and Amelia Clement had one point.
