Baude leads Hampden-Bangor Unified basketball to victory over Bucksport
HAMPDEN - Tuesday afternoon at The Stable inside Hampden Academy, Jaron Baude scored a game high 22 points to lead the Hampden-Bangor Broncos to a 50-44 win over Bucksport in a Unified Basketball contest.

Presque Isle repeats as Glenburn Rec 3rd-4th grade girls tournament champions
GLENBURN - The Presque Isle 3rd-4th grade girls overcame a 4-point loss on Saturday to the China team by rolling to a 28-13 victory over the HERicanes on Sunday night to win the 2019 Glenburn Rec tournament for the second consecutive year.

Glenburn Rec 3rd and 4th grade girls basketball tourney gets underway
GLENBURN - Saturday morning at the Glenburn Elementary School, the Glenburn Rec's 3rd-4th grade girls basketball tournament began. The 8-team tournament is pool play on Saturday (eight games), and Sunday morning into early afternoon (four games) to determine the teams involved in the single elimination rounds. Participating teams include Houlton, China, Presque Isle, and Ellsworth in Pool A. Foxcroft, Orono, Lawrence, and host team Glenburn make up the Pool B division.

In the first game of the day, Presque Isle used a 9-4 second quarter to pull away from Ellsworth on their way to a 27-11 victory. They led 15-8 at the half, and out scored Ellsworth 12-3 over the second half.
Blayne Tardif scored a game high 12 points to lead Presque Isle, while Lenora Curtis added six points and Emily Collins scored five points. Scoring for Ellsworth was Caleigh Trenholm with seven points and both Ella Watson and Camryn Clough with two points each.

In game two, the host team Glenburn led 6-4 after the first quarter, but Foxcroft took the lead with an 11-3 second quarter for a 15-9 half time score. The Chargers were unable to make up the deficit as the Ponies went on to a 23-17 win.

Allie Cook topped all scorers with 19 points to lead Foxcroft, while Payson Hall and Kendall Killiam each chipped in with two points. Glenburn got eight points from Eve Wiles and five points from Mallory Lausier. Abby Folsom and Emily Caulkins each scored two points.
The China HERicanes opened game three with an 11-0 first quarter to help propel them to a 28-12 win over the Houlton Shiretowners.

China was led in scoring by Kelsie Dunn with a game high 14 points and Olivia Childs with eight points. Scoring for Houlton was Marissa Barton with a team high eight points, and both Reagan Wright and Allison Worthly with two points each.
In the fourth game of the tournament, Lawrence opened with a 12-1 first quarter and put the game away with a 7-0 second quarter for a 19-1 halftime lead. Lawrence had the edge in the second half with a 10-8 score for a 29-9 victory over Orono.

Jaycee Elkins and Addison Lambert each scored six points to pace Lawrence, while Izzy Drake and Harper Lawrence both added four points. Lila Ouellette provided all the scoring for Orono with a game high nine points.

Ellsworth cruises to Glenburn Rec's 5th/6th grade girls tournament championship
GLENBURN - Sunday night in Glenburn, the Ellsworth Downeast Family Y (DEFY) girls remained undefeated as they cruised to a 51-13 victory over Hampden to claim the 2019 Glenburn Rec 5th/6th grade girls tournament championship at the Glenburn School.

Glenburn Rec tournaments hit the ground running with girls 5/6 tourney
GLENBURN - The annual Glenburn Rec tournaments got underway Saturday morning with the 5th/6th grade girls. This double elimination, 9-team tournament includes teams from Blue Hill, Ellsworth, Nokomis (Newport), Dexter, Hampden, Lawrence (Fairfield), Presque Isle (2 teams), and host team Glenburn.

Milford girls overcome half time deficit to win PVML "A" Division Championship
HAMPDEN - After winning two regular season games, it looked like the girls from Dr. Lewis S. Libby school in Milford might not make it a clean sweep over the Lady Chargers from Glenburn after trailing by six points at half time. Milford was able to out score Glenburn 22-13 over the second half to come away with a 40-37 victory to win the Penobscot Valley Middle League girls "A" division championship at The Stable inside Hampden Academy on Tuesday night.

Nadeau, Czapiga spark Holbrook to PVML "A" Division Championship
HAMPDEN - Tuesday night at The Stable inside Hampden Academy, Evan Nadeau and Andy Czapiga each scored in double digits to help spark the Red Devils to a 50-41 victory over the Orono Red Riots to claim the 2018-19 Penobscot Valley Middle League boys "A" Division Championship.
