Bangor kicks off Eastern Maine Basketball League first round playoffs with a solid win over Hermon in 7/8 Girls "A"

 BANGOR – The EMBL playoffs are underway and today one of the 7/8 girls "A" team games was played between Hermon and host Bangor at the legendary Red Berry Gymnasium at Bangor High School.

Bangor started strong in the fist half, but allowed Hermon to get within striking distance at the break with Bangor leading 26-17. The second half was all Bangor as they outscored Hermon 25-11 for the win. 

The Rams will now move on to play the winner of the Hampden and Lincoln girls next weekend. 

Scoring for Bangor were, Avery Clark with 12 points; Delaney Horr 10; Gabby Roy nine; Lynoise Durost six; Carley Andrews, Clara Oldenburg and Lucy O'Connell four each; and Gabby Spreng two. 

Bangor was 2-2 (100 percent) from the foul line and the knocked down five 3-pointers, two each from Durost and Horr and one from Roy.

For the Hawks,  Kass Lebel had a game high 16 points; Rebecca Balmas six; and Lila Ryan, Maddie McDougal, and Lydia Muth two each. 

Hermon was 8-of-19 (42 percent) from the charity stripe.  They had no 3-pointers.
