The Holbrook 7/8 A girls battled back from a 3-point half time deficit to pull out a 36-34 win over the host team Brewer on Sunday morning at Brewer High School in an Eastern Maine Basketball League travel contest.

What was crucial in the opening half of the game was Jill Ford scoring 10 of Holbrook's 19 points to keep the Red Devils close and within striking distance to Brewer, who led 22-19 heading into the second half. Sarah Snowdeal and Olivia Gilmore combined to score 15 of the Witches 22 points in the half.
In the second half, five Red Devils players scored to help Holbrook out score Brewer 17-12 to lead them to the two point victory. Anna Smith, Emma Jameson, and Ford combined for 12 of the Red Devils 17 points in the half.
Ford had a game high 14 points to lead Holbrook in scoring. Jameson added six points, Julia Turner had five points, Smith netted four points, and Hailee Dearborn scored three points. Kiersten Daigle and Molly Brown each scored two points.
Holbrook had no long range baskets, and they shot just 2-for-9 (22 percent) from the free throw line.
Gilmore scored 11 points to lead Brewer in scoring. Snowdeal added eight points, Reese McKenney picked up six points, and Ainsley Goodwin scored four. Abbie Flagg had three points, and Gabby Chasse chipped in with two points, going a perfect 2-for-2 from the foul line.
The Witches had three 3-point baskets, two by Snowdeal and one by Gilmore, and they went 5-for-8 (62.5 percent) from the charity stripe.
