HERMON - The Holbrook 7/8A girls took just a one point lead (16-15) into the second half, but stretched that lead out to a 26-22 second half score to come away with a 42-37 victory over the Hermon Hawks in an opening season game of the Eastern Maine Basketball League at Hermon Middle School on Sunday afternoon.

The game was a battle between the two teams from the opening tip off. Holbrook managed to take a slim one point lead into the second half. Holbrook was able to turn things up a notch, as they stretched their lead out to five points throughout most of the second half. The Red Devils led 35-30 over the Hawks with 3:37 left in the game. The Hawks added seven more points over the final three and a hslf minutes, but they would come up short as the defense also allowed Holbrook to add seven points during the same time period for the 42-37 win.
Holbrook was led in double digit scoring by Hailee Dearborn with 15 points and Anna Smith with 10 points. Jill Ford added seven points and Emma Jameson scored six points.
Kassidy Lebel scored 10 points to lead the Lady Hawks in scoring. Sabree Thomas added six points, and Lila Ryan had five points. Erin Selleck and Abby Dubois each scored four points, while Hannah Waning added three points, Rebecca Blamas had two points, and Madi Tracy chipped in with one points.
