Bangor sets tempo early in boys preseason victory over Oceanside

BANGOR - The Bangor boys set the tempo of the game in the first quarter out scoring the Mariners of Oceanside High School of Rockland 23-14 on their way to a 62-46 preseason win at the Red Barry Gymnasium inside Bangor High School on Wednesday night.

Taking a nine point deficit into the second period, Oceanside fought to work their way back but only out scored the Rams 14-12 giving Bangor a 35-28 lead at the half time break. 

Bangor would out score the Mariners 27-18 over the second half to come away with the 16 point margin of victory.

Landen Clark scored 14 points to lead Bangor in scoring, and Keegan Cyr added 10 points. Max Clark, Colton Emerson, and Braydon Caron each added nine points. Colby Leavitt had four points, Kadin Thomas added three points, while Scott Fahey and Ryan Howard each scored two points.

The Rams had six 3-point baskets, three by Clark, two by Cyr, and one from Caron, and they went 6-for-9 (67 percent) from the free throw line.

The Mariners were led in scoring by Bohdi Ames with 14 points, while Carter Galley and Cohen Galley each scored 10 points. Also scoring was Alex Bartlett and Zeb Foster with four points each, and scoring two points each was Hayden Jacques and Austin Chilles.

Oceanside had three 3-point baskets, two by Carter Galley and one from Cohen Galley. They shot 7-for-14 (50 percent) from the charity stripe.
