Streams, Quinn spark Lady Rams to preseason victory over Oceanside

BANGOR - Wednesday night at the Red Barry Gymnasium inside Bangor High School, Emmie Streams and Abbie Quinn both scored in double digits to lead the Bangor Rams to a 57-49 win over the Oceanside Mariners of Rockland in girls varsity preseason action.

If you were in attendance at this game you might have wondered if it was more of a 3-point  competition rather than a preseason game, as the two teams combined for 12 baskets from behind the arc.

Bangor opened the first quarter with a 14-8 lead over the Mariners, but a 24 point second quarter effort from the Rams stretched their lead into a 14 point advantage at half time (38-24).

Oceanside did out score the Rams 25-19 over the second half to pull with eight points at the final buzzer.

Streams and Abbie Quinn each scored 14 points to top Bangor in scoring. Cassidy Ireland added nine points and Mimi Quinn scored eight. Taylor Coombs netted seven points, and Lily Chandler had five points.

Bangor had five 3-point baskets, two by Streams and one each from Ireland, Coombs and Chandler. The Rams went 8-for-18 (44 percent) from the free throw line.

Baily Breen led all scorers with a game high 24 points to top the Lady Mariners, and Audrey Mackie added 12 points. Also scoring was Anna Kingsbury with six points, Ahlina Morris had five points, and Emily Sykes chipped in with two points.

Oceanside had seven 3-point baskets, two each by Breen, Mackie, and Kingsbury, and one from Morris. The Mariners went 6-for-8 (75 percent) from the charity stripe.
