Eastern Elite takes two from Glenburn in 7/8 B girls travel action

GLENBURN - Sunday in Glenburn, the Eastern Elite 7/8 B girls took care of business pulling off a sweep of the Glenburn Chargers in an Eastern Maine Basketball League travel basketball doubleheader. The Elite picked up a 45-38 win in the first game, and pulled off another win 39-34 in game two.

In the opening game, the Elite trailed at half time but out scored Glenburn 16-8 in the third quarter and never looked back on their way to a 45-38 win.

Karleigh Smith scored a game high 20 points to lead the Elite in scoring. Grace Howard added 11 points and Kaci Small had 10. Mishun Sabbitus and Kaylen Hamilton each scored two points.

Grace Labree had 10 points to top Glenburn in scoring, while Eve Wiles and Jillian Severance each added eight points. Emily Caulkins had six points, Malory Lausier scored five, and Andrea Crocker chipped in with one point.

In game two, Glenburn held a 20-16 lead at half time, but like in game one the Elite out scored the Chargers 14-3 in the third quarter on their way to a 39-34 win.

Smith once again topped all scorers with 16 points to pace the Elite. Hamilton added 10 points, Howard had six, and Small scored four points. Sabbitus scored two and Kenzi Smith chipped in with one.

Wiles scored 12 points to lead Glenburn in scoring. Labree added eight points, Caulkins and Crocker each had five points, Severance scored three, and Lily Wilcox had one point.
