Bangor 5/6A girls knock off Hawks in EMBLL action

HERMON - Saturday morning at the Hermon Middle School, the host team Hermon Hawks fell behind quickly and struggled through the first half and wound up on the losing end of a 26-19 victory by the visiting Bangor Rams in a 5th/6th grade A division Eastern Maine Basketball League travel game.

Hermon's Kaylee Folsom (15) has her path to the basket blocked by Bangor's E. Collins (50) during an EMBBL 5th/6th grade travel game in Hermon on Saturday. Bangor won the game 26-19.

Hermon struggled in the first half of the game scoring only four points, and that would be the difference maker in the game. Bangor led 11-2 with 3:30 left in the opening half, and they would take a commanding 15-4 lead into the half time break.

The Hawks got as close as five points (18-13) behind the Rams with 7:48 remaining in the game. Hermon would eventually out score Bangor 15-11 in the second half, but they ran out of time on the clock as the Rams came away with the seven point win.

Bangor did not provide first names in the score book. G. Stephenson topped all scorers with 10 points to lead the Rams in scoring, and Q. Andrew added eight points. M. Emerson had four points, while N. Earl and A. St. Peter each chipped in with two points. Bangor went 2-for-9 (22 per cent) from the free throw line.

Brooklyn Whitney (5) and Kaylee Folsom (4) led Hermon in scoring. Gracie Fecteau, Brooklyn Kelley, Mya Lancaster, Maddie Muth, and Abby Folsom each added two points to the Hawks score. Hermon went just 1-for-11 (9 per cent) from the charity stripe.
