Lady Broncos fall to Skowhegan to open season

Friday night at Hampden Academy, the Lady Broncos came up a little short falling to Skowhegan 42-38 in a mutual season opener.

Skowhegan took a lead early in the first quarter and never looked back. They held the lead 10-6 after the first quarter and 21-16 at half time, 32-28 after three quarters and closed out the final period with the four point advantage.

Leading Skowhegan in scoring was Annie Cooke with a game high 14 points. Alyssa Everett and Sydney Reed each scored seven points, Sydney Ames added six points, Emma Duffy scored five points, and Mariah Dunbar added three points.

Alydia Brilliant topped Hampden Academy in scoring with 11 points in her first ever regular season high school game. Joining Brilliant in scoring for the Broncos was Bailey Donovan with nine points, Brooklyn Scott with seven points, Braylee Wildman had four points and Marissa Gilpin scored three points. Bella Soucy and Sophie Narofsky chipped in with two points each.
