Vikings roll past Broncos in final regular season home game

HAMPDEN – The Hampden Broncos hosted #1 Oxford Hills in a varsity game at the Stable where the Vikings took home a 66-55 road win on Senior Night for the boys and the cheerleaders.

Oxford outscored Hampden every quarter except the last, 16-9, 32-19, and 49-34 heading into the final stanza where Hampden cut the lead a little but fell short of a comeback allowing as sweep of the night for the visiting Vikings who handled the JV 71-20. 

The Broncos were severely outsized in this one and as hard as they worked the Vikings dominated the boards on both ends of the floor. Despite the size, the Vikings were incredibly quick on defense with many steals of some good passes and some bad ones.

Scoring for Oxford Hills were, Colby Dillingham with a team high 20 points; Teigan Pelletier 17; Elias Soehren 10; Tanner Pickford eight; Brendan Palmer, Isaiah Oufiero, and Jake Carson three each; and Lincoln Merrill two.

The Vikings were 13-of-18 (72 percent)from the foul line and they had five long distance baskets, two from Dillingham, and one each from Palmer, Oufiero, and Carson.

For Hampden, Zach McLaughlin had a game high 24 points; Adam Pinkos and Landon Gabric had 13 each; and Kaysen Wildman five.

The Broncos were 8-of-10 (80 percent) from the charity stripe. They also knocked down five 3-pointers, three from Pinkos and two from McLaughlin.

Seniors graduating this year from Basketball, Adam Pinkos and Brennon Tiensivu, and for Cheerleaders, Elizabeth Bates, Nikyla Bidler, Olivia Dunn, Tiffany Levesque, and Gabby Moore.
