The Broncos had some struggles getting back in touch with everyone as this was the first game Hampden has had since Dec. 22 with the original starting five all available. But even the rust was not going to deter the Broncos as they went on to a 40-20 win.
The Bronco's outscored the Blue Devils each of the first three quarters, 11-6, 9-4, and put the game out of reach for Lewiston in the third outscoring them 13-2. Lewiston managed to gain the advantage in the final quarter 8-7.
The win means that Hampden will play in the semifinal game on Wednesday at the Cross Center in Portland. They will play the winner of the Portland and Cheverus game.
Scoring for Hampden was Bella McLaughlin with a game high 12 points; Cam Neal 11; Lauren Voteur eight; Taylor Gardner five; and Lucy Wiles four.
The Broncos were 8-of-10 (80 percent) from behind the charity stripe and they knocked down two 3-pointers, one each from Gardner and Neal.
For Lewiston, Aiwen Maiwen lad the team with seven points; Koral Morin six; Skyler Gaudette three, and Maddy Oliveira, and Kaura Lawrence two each.
The Blue Devils were just 1-of-5 (20 percent) from the foul line. They had three 3-point baskets, two from Morin and one from Gaudette!
