Hampden Academy goes to 4-0 with the win while Brewer falls to 2-2. Hampden plays in the AA North Division while Brewer plays in the A North Division.

Hampden jumped out to a 17-3 lead in the first quarter and never slowed down leading 29-15 at the half, and 43-27 after three. They easily skated through the final stanza for the lopsided victory.

The Bronco's Bella McLaughlin was the star of the show tonight, and a show she put on. Outside shooting, driving hard to the basket for layups and drawing fouls which she made good on 4-of-6 times for a game high 22 points. McLaughlin led the team each of the first three quarters in offense and tied Emma Haskell in the fourth, while playing constant in your face, arms and hands going all the time defense. You can't possibly concentrate on shooting when you are being guarded by her.

Other scorers tonight for the Broncos were, Haskell and Cam Neal with 10 points each; Lucy Wiles, Taylor Gardner, and Lauren Voteur had six each; and Caitlin Murphy added four.

Hampden was 8-of-16 (50 percent) from the foul line and they knocked down eight 3-point baskets, two each from Haskell, McLaughlin, Gardner, and Neal.

Brewer struggled with their outside shooting and finishing at the basket. While nine of the 11 varsity players scored, they were led by Mariah Roberts with a team high eight points; Jordan Doak had six; Trea Broussard and Allie Flagg had five each; Makayla Dore and Kelly DiCarlo four each; Kaylee Dore and Riley Umel two each; and Jena McQuarrie one.

The Witches were 10-of-23 (43 percent) from the charity stripe. And they had two 3-pointers, one each from Roberts and Flagg.

Hampden Academy will host Oxford Hills on Thursday, Dec. 23 and Brewer will travel again, this time to Cony of Augusta on the same day.
