Cohen "A" girls roll to victory over Brewer to complete sweep in middle school action

BREWER - The William S. Cohen girls had an easy night of action on Thursday night, as they rode a 19-4 first quarter lead all the way to a 49-33 victory over the Brewer Witches in an "A" level game at the Brewer Community School. The victory gave the Eagles a sweep of Brewer in the middle school B/A doubleheader.

The first quarter 15-point margin was a true difference maker, as the two teams played to a one point advantage (30-29) for Cohen over the next three quarters.

Cohen led the game 27-10 at half time, and heading into the final period the Eagles were on top 43-24.

Be advised that Cohen did not provide last names to the scorekeeper.  If anyone knows them we would be happy to update the story.

Avery C. topped all scorers with a game high 16 points to lead the Eagles. Clara O. scored eight points, while Mariah E. and Kyclin A. each added six points. Gabby R. scored five points, and both Carley A. and Lyndsie D. each added four points. Cohen went 5-for-9 (56 percent) from the free throw line.

Maddie Shaw had nine points and Gabby Chasse added eight points to lead Brewer in scoring. Reece Kenzie scored six points and Abbie Flagg netted four points. Sarah Snowdeal and Olivia Gilmore each scored three points. The Witches had one 3-point basket by Snowdeal, and they went 4-for-9 (44 percent) from behind the charity stripe.
