VARSITY GAME
The varsity game was a thriller that I'm not sure anyone was expecting. Perhaps it was the Rams that took the game too lightly. Maybe the Broncos are starting to come together as a team, they certainly looked it tonight. In the end it was the Rams with the 60-50 win, but it did not come until the end.

The first quarter was Hampden's Zach McLaughlin leading the way offensively and defensively. If you looked for the ball he had it in his hands or was working to get it there. He scored six of his team high 20 points to lead the Broncos to a 13-9 first quarter lead.

In the second quarter McLaughlin again led the Broncos with eight points and Bangor's Max Clark scored seven points in the second quarter to pace Bangor to a 23-22 scoring in the second quarter. Hampden was still able to take a 35-32 lead over Bangor into the locker room at half time.

Not sure what was said to anyone in the locker rooms, but Bangor came out strong behind the play of Landon Clark who had an exceptional second half.

L. Clark poured in eight of his game high 25 points in the third quarter and dominated the boards as Bangor outscored the Broncos 15-8 to take a 47-43 lead they would not relinquish into the final stanza where they were again led by L. Clark with six points as they out scored Hampden 13-7 to capture the 60-50 win

Scoring for Bangor were, L.Clark with 25 points; M. Clark and Brayden Caron eight each; Ben Caron seven; Ryan Howard five; Colton Emerson four; and Wyatt Stevens three.

Bangor was 7-of-14 (50 percent) from the foul line and they had five 3-pointers, one each from, Be. Caron, Stevens, M. Clark, Howard, and Br. Caron.

For Hampden, McLaughlin led the way with 20 points; JJ Wolfington had 10; Landon Gabric eight; Brandon Butterfield and Andrew Day five each; and Aiden Kochendoerfer with two.

The Broncos were 2-of-3 (67 percent) from the charity stripe, and they had four 3-pointers, two from McLaughlin and one each from Butterfield and Wolfington.

Bangor goes to 5-1 on the season and will be in action again Thursday, Dec. 30 when they travel to Windham who is currently 1-4.

Hampden falls to 0-5 and will be traveling to Portland to take on Cheverus High School on Thursday, Dec. 30 as well.  Cheverus will enter the game 2-3.

JV GAME

Bangor JV's with a 38-30 win over Hampden in the JV game at Hampden Academy Tuesday evening.

Bangor led this one all the way 8-4 after the first quarter, 20-11 at the half and 32-16 heading into the final stanza. Hampden outscored the Rams 14-6 in the fourth but it was a little too late to overcome the double digit lead Bangor held.

Leading the way for Bangor were, Kadin Thomas with 10 points; Nasir Gordon seven; George Socolow and Izaiah Curtis four each; Jakeb Dionne, Ryan Ford, Miles Clark, Ethan Nicholson, Zion Fullwood, and Aden Zowghi, two each; and Jack Earl added one.

Bangor was 3-of-6 (50 percent) from the foul line and the had one 3-pointer from Gordon.

For Hampden,  Kade Bartlett had 10 points; Jacob Breton six; Andy Henaghen five; Kaysen Wildman four; Gavin Stewart three; and Nick Bennett two.
