Bangor, Hermon 3/4 girls play to overtime tie in EMBBL travel basketball

HERMON - It was a tale of two different teams over the two 16 minute half's, as the host Hermon 3/4 Gold girls played to a 20-20 overtime tie against the visiting Bangor 3/4 girls at the Hermon Middle School on Saturday morning in an Eastern Maine Basketball League game.

Hermon opened the game with a 10-4 lead over the first six minutes of play, and they closed out the opening 16 minute half 10-2 to take a commanding 20-6 lead into the second half.

It was almost like two different teams showed up as the second half got underway. Hermon could not buy a basket, and unlike the first half, Bangor seemed to score at will. The Rams shut the door on the young Hawks and outscored them 14-0 in the second half to force an overtime after a 20-20 regulation score.

During the three minute overtime, neither team was able to get the ball in the net as time expired with the score board still showing a 20-20 tie.

Scoring for Hermon was Annelise Cormier with 10 points, Ava Deifrederico with eight points, and Sophie Curtis with two points.

The Bangor team had no scorebook and only provided first names to the Hermon book keeper.

Leading the Rams in scoring was Annie with 10 points, and Halle with four points. Abigail, Lauren, and Bri each chipped in with two points.
