Brewer lost its first game, "Gave up five goals in that opening game and have only given up one goal in the last three games, including two shutouts," said Coach Dave Hamel.
Jordan Doak started the scoring for Brewer at 8:45 in the first period as she came into take a pass from Devin Horr and was able to blast it past the dive of Skowhegan goalie Reese Danforth for the 1-0 lead.
Later in the first Doak punctured the goal line again, this time on an assist from Charlee Laffey to make it 2-0 at the half.

Brewer hit their final goal in the second half, this one from Kate Brydges to Laffey who put in into the net in the back of the goal for the final 3-0 win.
Bella Tanis was in goal for the Witches where she did not face any shots on goal, however had to track down some wide kicks to protect the goal. Danforth in goal for the River Hawks had six saves on nine shots on goal.
Penalty corner advantage was held by Brewer 4-1. The Witches held a 57 to 43 percent possession time throughout the game.

Brewer goes to 3-1 on the season and will travel to Lewiston next, who is currently 0-4, for a game Sept. 22.
Skowhegan falls to 0-5. They are a team looking for its first goal of the season, despite the never quit play of all the girls. They will also face Lewiston next on Sept. 18 at home. One of the team should get their first win of the season and hopefully that will be what they need to get going on the rest of the season.
