BANGOR - Three starters scored in double figures Wednesday afternoon, led by 13 points each from Paige Plissey and Megan Tracy, to lead the No. 1 Hermon Hawks to a 47-34 Maine Principals’ Association Class B semifinal girls basketball win over No. 4 Old Town at the Cross Insurance Center.

Hermon got baskets from Plissey, Madison Lebel, Grace Page, and Tracy to open up an 8-0 lead to start things. Old Town got their first basket over four minutes in when Lexi Thibodeau scored. A three-pointer and a two point basket by Saturdays quaterfinal hero Charlotte Caron pushed the lead to 13-2. Hermon led 15-7 after the opening eight minutes. Maddy Emerson hit two from the line, Thibodeau hit one, and Maddy Arsenault hit a jumper for the Coyotes to cut it to 15-12 at the beginning of the second quarter. The Hawks, though, ran off the last nine points of the half and took their largest lead 24-12 at the break.

Hermon continued that run when Tracy hit a three-pointer, Plissey hit one at the line and also hit a three-pointer to cap off a 16-0 run to stretch the lead to 31-12 at the start of the third quarter. Old Town wouldn’t go quietly though as Hannah Richards and Thibodeau scored four points each part of a 13-3 run to cut the deficit to 34-25 after three. Arsenault hit a pair of free throws to start the fourth for the Coyotes to cut it to seven, but that is as close as they would get. Lebel hit a pair of shots wedged around another three-pointer from Caron to make it 41-27, and 10 is the closest Old Town would get after that.
