Orono tops Brewer in Unified Basketball season opener

BREWER - Wednesday afternoon at Brewer High School, the visiting Orono Red Riots picked up a 73-66 win over the host Brewer Witches in a mutual season opener for the Unified Basketball program for the 2020 season.

Orono led 39-31 after the first half, and that was the difference maker as Brewer outscored the Red Riots 35-34 over the second half. 

Orono was led in scoring by Wyatt Farnham and Emma LaBree with 16 points each. Isaiah Walker added 13 points, Benny Cobo-Lewis had 12, and Ian Benson scored 11 points.

Calvin Etchason-Taylor scored a game-high 24 points to lead the Witches in scoring. Also scoring in double digits for Brewer was Julianna Briggs and Chris Verschoor with 10 points each.
