Davis, Brown lead Witches 1st team to victory over Hampden

BREWER - Aiden Brewer and Ben Brown combined for 31 points on Saturday morning as the Brewer Witches 1st team picked up a 45-31 win over the Hampden academy freshman boys at Brewer High school.

Brewer opened with a 13-8 first quarter, and Hampden made it a 4-point game at the half (23-19) with an 11-10 score over the Witches.

The Witches made the move in the third quarter to put the Broncos away when they held them scoreless for a 9-0 score to take a 32-19 lead heading into the final eight minutes. Hampden was unable to overcome the deficit  as Brewer out scored them 13-12 for the 14 point margin of victory.

Davis had 16 points and Brown added 15 points to spark the Witches scoring. Also scoring for Brewer was Andrew Hodgins with seven points, Blake Gonzales with four points, Tanner Butterfield with two points, and Maddox Torrey with one point.

Brewer had two 3-point baskets, one each by Davis and Brown, and they went 7-for-16 (44 percent) from the free throw line.

Sam Burnham scored 13 points to pace Hampden in scoring. Brock Deane scored six points and Kaden Tardif added five points. Brandon Butterfield had three points, and both Sam Dakin and Leo Mylinski each chipped in with two points.

Hampden had two 3-point baskets, one each from Tardif and Butterfield, and they went 5-for-8 (63 percent) from the charity stripe.
