Brewer 7-8th grade girls send Glenburn packing with strong team game

BREWER – The 7-8th grade Brewer girls played as a team Saturday in their Eastern Maine Basketball League playoff win over Glenburn, 55-23.

From the start, the Witches looked like a well-oiled machine while the Glenburn players struggled to find the basket in the early going. After taking a 17-2 lead to start the game the Brewer girls finished the first half up 33-14 and outscored Glenburn 22-9 in the second half for the win.


Brewer was able to get scoring from 10 of its 12 players with those players contributing on defense for the win.

Scoring for Brewer was, Jayden Schoppee with 14 points; Lindsey Pine 10; Lauren Voteur seven; Gabrielle Roberts five; Allie Flagg, Violet Damon, and Mariah Roberts four each; Kathleen Brydges three; and Hannah Snowdeal and Delaney Horr two each.

Brewer was 9-of-21 from the foul line and they knocked down a pair of 3-point baskets, one each from Roberts and Voteur.

For Glenburn, Lucy Wiles had 12 points; Emma Westrich and Kate Hews four each; Lauren Hogan two; and Charlee Ann Burns one.

The Charges were 5-of-14 from the foul line.

Brewer now waits to see who they will play next as the league championship run continues.
