Brewer JV girls with home win over Messalonskee

BREWER – The Brewer girls junior varsity basketball team hosted Messalonskee of Oakland Thursday in a makeup game where the hosts handed the visitors a 39-29 loss.

Messalonskee took a first-quarter 12-11 lead but fell behind Brewer 21-16 at the half. Both teams scored 10 points in the third quarter making it a 33-26 Brewer lead heading into the final quarter of play where the Witches played smart and held the lead for the win.

Scoring for Brewer was Dominique Ouellette with 11 points; Trea Boussard and Josie Pece nine each; Kelly Dicarlo six; and Makayla Dore and Jordan Doak two each.

The Witches were just 4-of-13 (31 percent) from the foul line and had one 3-pointer from Ouellette.

For Messalonskee, Morgan Genness had 10 points; Gabby Smart seven; Sidney Hatch and Megan Wilson four each; and Lexi Brodeur and Candace Pelotte two each.

The Eagles were 8-of-19 (42 percent) from the charity stripe. They also had one 3-pointer from Genness.
