Brewer boys 1st Team starts night off strong with a win over Nokomis

BREWER – The 1st Team from Brewer opened the night with a lopsided 72-16 win over the visiting Nokomis Warriors of Newport.

What started off fast for the young Witches, never slowed down as they took a 16-0 first-quarter lead and ended the first half with a 43-6 lead. Brewer extended the lead to 55-13 at the end of three and cruised to the 72-16 win.

Offensively from Brewer, Andrew Hodgins had a game-high 13 points; Lendl Zaehringer and Aiden Davis, nine each; Maddox Torrey and Blake Gonzales, eight each; Logan Churchill, seven; Tanner Butterfield and Titus Philbrick, six each; Ben Brown, five; and Noah Tibbetts, one.

The Witches were, 16-of-25 (64 percent) from the foul line and they knocked down a pair of 3-point baskets, one each from, Hodgins and Zaehringer.

For Nokomis, Aaron Mooers had five points; Hunter Simpson, Jaimen Romagno, and Owen Snow, three each; and Nathan Tardif, two.

The Warriors were, 2-of-11 (18 percent) from the foul line. They also had two 3-point baskets, one each from, Romagno and Snow.
