Campbell sparks Glenburn girls to rout of Orono

GLENBURN - Tuesday afternoon at the Glenburn School, Sadie Campbell scored 12 of her game high 14 points in the first quarter to lead the Chargers to a 16-2 period  on their way to a 52-18 victory over the Red Riots in a middle school A team match up.

The Chargers jumped out to a 5-0 start in the first period, and Campbell's hot hand carried them to the 16-2 lead at the buzzer. Glenburn out scored Orono in every quarter, leading 27-10 at the half, 41-12 after the third quarter, and an 11-6 fourth quarter score led to the final total.

Campbell scored a co-game high 14 points to lead the Chargers in scoring. Mollie Simcox, Kacey Gardner, and Lucy Wiles each scored eight points. Emma Westrich, Mariah Sharrow, and Lauren Hogan each added four points, and Katie Hews chipped in with two points. Glenburn had two 3-point baskets, both by Campbell, and they went 6-for-10 (60 percent) from the charity stripe.

Orono was topped in scoring by Cloeyrae Smith with a game co-high 14 points. Abby Sirois and Marissa McLaughlin both scored two points. The Red Riots had one 3-point basket by Smith, and they went 1-for-8 (12.5 percent) from the free throw line.
