Glenburn 7/8 boys pull out victory over Hermon

GLENBURN - Saturday morning at the Glenburn Elementary School, the Glenburn 7/8 boys broke open a half time tie game in the third quarter then held off a Hermon fourth quarter rally to hang on for a 40-36 win over the Hawks in an Eastern Maine Basketball League travel game.

Glenburn opened with a 10-6 first quarter lead,  but Hermon bounced back with a 12-8 second quarter to knot the game up at 18-18 at the half time break.

The Chargers opened the third quarter on a 9-0 run to take a 27-18 lead with 4:30 remaining in the quarter. Glenburn would out score  the Hawks 16-6 in the quarter for a 34-24 lead heading into the final eight minutes.

Hermon played their best ball in the final period, out scoring the Chargers 12-6 but they simply ran out of time as Glenburn held on for the four point win.

Glenburn was led in scoring by Butterfield and Josh Harvey with 10 points each, and Andrew Day with nine points. The Chargers went six-for-eight from the free throw line, and had two 3-point baskets (Harvey, Day).

Hermon was topped in scoring by Johnny Kokoska with 10 points and Ethan Hallet with six points. The Hawks went five-for-eight from the charity stripe, and had one 3-point basket from Kokoska, Isaiah St. Louis, and Noah DePuy.
