Glenburn Rec annual travel tournaments ready to go

GLENBURN - On Saturday morning at the Glenburn Elementary School, the Glenburn Rec begins it's annual basketball tournaments for 3rd/4th grade boys and girls and 5th/6th boys and girls. The tournaments, which have been going on for nearly 20 years, begin with the 5/6 girls on Saturday, February 17 and 18th and end with the 5/6 boys on Saturday, March 10th and 11th. In between are the 3rd/4th girls on February 14 and 25, and the 3rd/4th boys on March 3rd and 4th.

There is just one opening available for any of the tournaments. One spot is available in the 5/6 boys tournament taking place on March 10/11. If interested please reach out to Carey Besse, Rec Director, at 945-3119. This spots will be filled on first come first served basis with paid fee.

All tournaments are pool play on Saturday and Sunday morning, with single elimination games on Sunday afternoon between the top two teams from each pool culminating with the championship game between the winners of the elimination games.

The opening tournament features the following eight 5th/6th grade girls teams: (Pool A) Glenburn, Holbrook, Lawrence, MDI-Green, (Pool B) Augusta, MDI-White, Oakfield, and Old Town Rec.
Games begin at 9:00 a.m. on Saturday and continue all day with the final game of the day at 5:45 p.m.

Maine Sports Report (Skip) will be on hand to photograph the first four games on each Saturday of the tournaments, along with the elimination games and championship on Sunday afternoon.
