Glenburn Rec 3/4 girls tourney hits the hardwood

GLENBURN - Saturday morning the Glenburn Rec kicked off another invitational tournament, this week featuring the 3rd and 4th grade girls. Participants include (Pool A) Corinth, Hermon, Lawrence, Old Town Y, (Pool B) Brewer, Presque Isle, Gardner, and host team Glenburn.

In the opening game of the tournament, Lawrence took a 10-2 first half lead, and the Old Town Y was unable to overcome the deficit as the Bulldogs picked up a 27-10 victory.

Lawrence was led in scoring by Maddy Provost with a game high 14 points, and Ashley Shores added six points.

Scoring for the Old Town Y was Karin Dumond with six points, and both Sophia Morgan and Karly Bird with two points each.

The host team Glenburn got a spark from Andrea Crocker, and they cruised past Brewer for a 40-20 victory. The Chargers led 10-0 after the opening quarter, and the Witches were not able to recover.. 

Crocker scored a game high 18 points to pace Glenburn, while Grace LaBree and Hailey Campbell each scored eight points. Jillian Severance added six points to the win.

Leading Brewer in scoring was Olivia Gilmore  with 10 points and Sarah Snowdeal with four points.

GLENBRN  10 8 8 14 -- 40

The Hermon Jr Hawks led by just two points (10-8) at the half, but was able to stretch their lead to 16-10 after the third quarter and come away with a  24-15  win over Central of Corinth.

Karleigh Smith scored a team high 10 points and Natalie Hardy added six points to lead the Jr Hawks in scoring.

Mary Allen had 10 points to pace Corinth in scoring.

HERMON  6 4 6 8 -- 24

In a battle of two evenly matched teams, Presque Isle managed to squeeze out a 25-22 victory over the Tigers of Gardner.

Jan Curtis scored a game high nine points and Sadie Tardiff added eight points to  lead the Wildcats in scoring.

Avayda Catchings scored six points, and both Lilly Clark and Maggie Blais scored four points each to lead Gardner in scoring.
