BANGOR– The Oceanside Mariners girls' basketball team made the trip to Bangor for a preseason match-up with the Rams and took home a hard-fought 46-42 win.
Bangor took the early lead in the first quarter 9-8, and held the halftime lead of 21-19. The two teams battled in the third quarter with both scoring 13 points to make it a Bangor 34, Oceanside 32 advantage heading into the fourth quarter.

Aubrey Hoose and Bailey Breen took over in the final stanza for the Mariners scoring seven points each to outscore Bangor 14-8 and take the 46-42 win for the bus ride home.
Scoring for Oceanside was Breen, with 20 points, two 3-point baskets, and 2-of-2 from the foul line. Hoose had 15 points and was 5-of-8 from the foul line. Renee Ripley had nine points, including a pair of 3-pointers, and was 1-of-2 from behind the line. Caitlin Lamb added two points, going 2-of-4 from the charity stripe.
Oceanside nailed four 3-pointers and went 10-of-18 from the foul line.
For Bangor, Avery Clark with 15 points, Delaney Horr had 12, Emily Adams had eight, Cala Oldenburg had four, and Mimi Quinn with three points. Clark and Adams each had a pair of 3-point baskets and Horr added one for a total of five. The Rams went 5-of-8 from behind the charity stripe.
Bangor will start the regular season on Thursday, Dec. 8, at home against Portland.
Oceanside starts its season on Tuesday, Dec. 12, when Cony travels to Rockland to open the regular season.
