Saturday is pool play for all eight games, and pool play continues Sunday morning with four additional games. Sunday afternoon the Single Elimination Round begins with two semifinal games to determine the championship game match up. Today I photographed the first four games, and Sunday will cover the three Elimination games.
Links to each games photo gallery will be posted as they are completed
Game 1 - Presque Isle vs Gardiner
Gardiner proved to be to much for Presque Isle to handle, as the Tigers jumped out to a 10-0 first quarter and cruised all the way to the final buzzer.
FINAL SCORE - Gardiner 20 Presque Isle 7
Graci Ricker was unstoppable as she led all scorers with 14 points for Gardiner. Riley Antognoni added four points and Haylee Rocque scored two points. Willow Bugbee scored four points to top Presque Isle in scoring. Rylee powers added two points, and Kaelyn Gogain chipped in with one point.
Game 2 - Belfast vs Glenburn
Belfast led this one 8-4 at the half time break, and with both teams unable to score in the third quarter the four point Belfast lead headed into the final period. Glenburn, a team that has been together for just two weeks and had only five practices together, came alive in the final stanza and actually held the lead three times over the final six minutes as they out scored Belfast 8-7.
FINAL SCORE - Belfast 15 Glenburn 12
Hollyn Field led Belfast in scoring with six points. Peyton Nash led all scorers with 12 points for Glenburn.
Game 3 - Hermon vs Maranacook
A scoreless second quarter left Hermon trailing Maranacook 10-4 at the half time break. The Hawks came out in the third quarter and ran off eight unanswered points and took a 14-12 lead after three periods. Maranacook would force an overtime period as they won the final regular period to tie the game at 18-18. An overtime score of 6-4 for Maranacook would give the victory.
FINAL SCORE - Maranacook 24 Hermon 22
Uniform numbers in the scorebook did not match the submitted numbers used in the program for Maranacook, so no top scorers are available for them Hermon was led in scoring by Ava DiFrederico with 10 points and Elise Smith with four points.
Game 4 - Oceanside vs MDI
This was a tough game for Oceanside to start and to finish. MDI took an 8-1 first quarter lead. Neither team scored in the second period, but Oceanside was able to blank MDI again with a 6-0 third quarter to pull to within one point of the Trojans 8-7 heading to the final period. Oceanside would pick up their first lead of the game at 11-10 with just 35 seconds left on the clock. Unfortunately for Oceanside, a late foul with just 7 seconds to play in the game would send MDI to the free throw line. Ameya Tripp knocked down both foul shots, and MDI came away with the one point win.
FINAL SCORE - MDI 12 Oceanside 11
Tripp and Miranda Dwyer each scored four points to lead MDI in scoring. Maeve Poland topped Oceanside with three points, and four players each added two points.
