GLENBURN - Sunday afternoon the Single Elimination Rounds began for the Glenburn Rec's 3rd/4th grade girls tournament at the Glenburn Elementary School, and after two semifinal games were played it was the Gardiner Tigers who came out on top to claim the 2022 Glenburn Rec Championship. This was the second consecutive Glenburn Rec 3/4 tournament (2020 and 2022) that was won by Gardiner.

Semifinal Game 1 - MDI vs Gardiner
This game turned out to be all Gardiner, as they came out on top in all four quarters winning 6-2, 3-2, 1-0, 4-0. After taking the 9-4 half time lead the intense Gardiner defense held MDI scoreless in the second half to come away with a 14-4 semifinal victory.
Gracie Ricker scored five points and Riley Antognoni added four points to lead Gardiner in scoring. Picking up the points for MDI was Ameya Tripp and Laceigh Trenholm with two points each.
Semifinal Game 2 - Maranacook vs Belfast
The game was tied 6-6 after the first quarter, and 12-12 at the half time break. Belfast opened the game up with a 16-9 third quarter to go in front 28-21 into the final stanza. Maranacook was not going out easily, as they battled back from that seven point deficit to tie the game at 28-28 late in the fourth quarter off a 7-0 run. Belfast picked up a final basket in the closing seconds and came away with a 30-28 victory and a trip to the championship game.
Championship Game - Gardiner vs Belfast
After a very slow start for both teams in the opening quarter (2-0 Gardiner), the Tigers got it going in the second quarter and led 8-0 with three minutes left in the period. Belfast finally picked up a basket, but Gardiner took an 8-2 lead into half time. The Tigers stretched out their lead in the third quarter with an 8-4 score to go up by 10 points (16-6) heading into the final stanza. The final quarter was won by Belfast, but the 10 point deficit was to much for them to overcome as Gardiner would come away with a 16-8 victory to claim the 3/4 girls Glenburn Rec Championship title.
Gracie Ricker scored a game high eight points to lead the Tigers to victory. Joining Ricker in scoring was Haley Rocque, Cora Pare, Riley Antognoni, and Olivia Croll with two points each.
Providing the scoring for Belfast was Hollyn Field with six points and Esme Field with two points.
Neither team had any long range baskets, and they both went 0-for-6 from the charity stripe.
