HAMPDEN - The girls match up for the Championship pitted the top two teams in the Penobscot Valley Middle League with the undefeated Samuel L. Wagner Clippers ranked number 1 and the Glenburn Chargers ranked number 2. Glenburn lost to the Clippers 20-16 back on December 8, 2021, and Wagner rolled on to an undefeated season coming into the championship game. It was Glenburn that turned out to be the better team on Tuesday night at the Stable inside Hampden Academy, as they knocked off the Clippers 47-26 to take home the PVML "A" Division championship for the 2021-22 middle school season.

Glenburn took the early lead with an 11-8 first quarter, and they would go on to win each of the final three periods 10-6, 10-4, and 16-8.
While Wagner had problems getting the ball in the basket, it seemed as though on this night Glenburn could do no wrong when it came to making their shots.
The Chargers were led in scoring by Eve Wiles who had a game high 14 points and Jillian Severance with 10 points. Andrea Crocker added seven points, Lilianna Wilcox and Grace Labree each scored five points, Emily Caulkins added four points, and Mallory Lausier chipped in with two points.
Glenburn had two 3-point baskets, both by Wiles, and they went 13-for-24 (54 percent) from the charity stripe.
Mia Curtis scored seven points and Blayne Tardif added five points to lead Wagner in scoring. Madi DeCentes and Madison Densmore each scored four points, while Izzy Krummel, Sadi Tardif, and Makayla Shaw each added two points.
Wagner did not have any long range baskets, and they shot just 2-of-15 (13 percent) from the foul line.
