Glenburn boys knock off #1 Center Drive School

HAMPDEN – The Hampden Academy gym was buzzing Saturday afternoon as the Penobscot Valley Middle League Girls and Boys Basketball Tournament was taking place.

In the 2 p.m. game the boys from #4 Glenburn Middle School was playing a very fun game to watch taking on the #1 Center Drive School. Going down to the wire aggressive defense, speed, and as always a little bit of luck with the ball taking a good bounce for you, the Charges were able to knock off #1 and advance to the "A" flight championship game at 6 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 15 at 6 p.m. They will take on the winner of the Caravel and Orono game. 

Only last names were provided for both teams. 

Scoring for Glenburn were, Coon with 14 points; Hews with 11; Haggerty eight; L. Corriveau five; Dunton and Babcock two each; and Murzyn(?) one. 

Glenburn was 5-of-13 (38 percent) from the foul line and the had four 3-point baskets, two from Haggerty, and one each from Hews and L. Corriveau.

For Center Drive School, Hurd with a game high 26 points; Jankowski six; Tiensivu three; and Harriman one. Book is missing three points.

They were 9-of-13 (69 percent) from the charity stripe and they had one 3-point basket from Tiensivu.
