HAMPDEN - Thursday night inside The Stable at Hampden Academy, the Vikings of Oxford Hills Comprehensive High School in South Paris, Maine proved to be too much for the Hampden Academy JV boys as the Vikings took home a 71-20 victory.

The Vikings demonstrated in the opening period how the game was going to play out, as they cruised to an 18-3 period. They were able to do themselves one better in the second quarter, again dominating the Broncos with a 19-3 score to put the game away at the half time break leading 37-6.
While the Broncos got slightly better in the second half scoring six and eight points respectively, Oxford Hills did not let up as they pounded in 17 points in each of the final two quarters for the 51 point margin of victory. Although they fought hard till the end, it was a tough day at the office for the young Hampden Academy team.
Leading the way for the Vikings was Eli LaVerdiere with a game high 15 points. Also scoring in double digits was Holden Shaw and Brady Delamater with 12 points each. Roy, Jake Carson, and Lincoln Merrill each added seven points, Darin Trundy had five points, Wyatt Cooper scored four points, and Logan Spencer chipped in with two points.
Oxford Hills had two 3-point baskets, one each by Trundy and Delamater, and they went 13-for-20 (65 percent) from the charity stripe.
Kade Bartlett topped Hampden Academy in scoring with nine points. Gavin Steward, Kaiden Benjamin, and Andy Heneghan each added three points, and Kam Tardif scored two points.
The Broncos knocked down five 3-point baskets, three by Bartlett and one each from Stewart and Benjamin. They went just 1-for-6 (17 percent) from the foul line.
