Going into the game the Broncos were on a 4-0 roll to start the season and then they faced Bangor. After no scoring in the first period the Rams finally got on the scoreboard and again in the third period to finish off the game with a 2-0 Bangor win.
Hampden had outscored their opponents 29-3 to start the game as they have been attacking the goal and they did in this one with each team having over 20 shots on goal, but for Bangor it was the goal keeping of Jake Hirsch that made the difference. Hirsch was outstanding in goal making save after save, some easy, some amazing.
Aaron Donovan of Hampden was also very good in goal, making some major stops to keep his team in the game.
This game started out very fast paced from both teams. The Rams and Broncos each had a few chances to get on the board in the first period, but the defense and goal keepers of both teams would not allow a goal.
At 14:35 of the second period, Bangor's, Cooper Ireland, took a pass from Cameron Lagassie, and buried it in the far right corner for the 1-0 score. The rest of the second period was much like the first with both teams trying their best to make something happen.
In the third period Bangor once again found a window of opportunity and at 1:28 Richie Trott took a great shot from the right side that skated past Donovan for the goal and the 2-0 score. Bangor's, Cole Neale, had the assist.
Hampden had four penalties for eight minutes in the box while Bangor had two penalties for four minutes.
Bangor goes to 2-1 on the young season and will travel to the So. Portland Thursday for a 7:10 p.m. game. Hampden falls to 4-1 and they will travel on 12/31 to the Forum in Presque Isle.
