Fall Ball from Black Bear North

HERMON – Local courts are getting a preseason workout as the Black Bear North AAU organization wraps up its Fall League next week with a make up weekend for any teams that have not played all their games.

Today in the three Hermon schools, there were 31 games played by middle school, and high school boys and girls.

This morning I went to Hermon High School and photographed Nokomis vs Camden Hills (CHILLS) followed by the Aroostook Elite against CHILLS.

The first game was like David against Goliath and David did not win this one. The Nokomis boys team has three seniors, a couple of juniors and some freshmen that are scary good already and big, I mean big tall, athletic, young men. They will be fun to watch over the next few years with this group.

CHILLS playing back to back games with just six players put them at a disadvantage to begin with, let alone the size difference. CHILLS coach Jon Duke said he was missing a couple or three players that would have made a difference against the Warriors.

In the second game for CHILLS the boys played hard and was able to make it a good game to watch considering how tired they had to be after the first game.

The Fall league ends in time for the regular high school season and then Black Bear North will host their Winter League starting Feb 13, 2022. For more information on the Winter League and Black Bear North visit their website at: https://www.bbnbasketball.com/
