Orono Unified basketball victorious over Lynx

ORONO - Tuesday afternoon the Orono Red Riots Unified basketball team hosted Mattanawcook Academy in the first of three consecutive days of games on the schedule, and it was Orono with a big second half who came away with a 77-71 victory over the Lynx.

The first half (20 minutes) was a back and forth contest. The Lynx led 12-6 with 15:22 left in the opening half, but with three minutes remaining the Red Riots went up by one at 31-30. MA finished the first half on top 36-35.

Orono got the early scoring edge in the second half, out scoring the Lynx 18-13 mid way through the half to take a 53-49 lead with 10 minutes left to play. Over the final 10 minutes, the Red Riots managed to stay on top edging Mattanawcook 24-22 to complete the six point margin of victory.
